Delta Cocktail

The Mississippi Delta cocktail is my ode to my many summers spent swimming in, floating on or catching fish from the Mississippi River. The Mississippi River begins in parts of Northern Minnesota and ends in the Gulf of Mexico. The Delta Cocktail reminds me of hot summer days and cool river water. Enjoy!

Fill cocktail shaker with ice. Add 2 ounces citrus vodka, 2 ounces raspberry liqueur, 1 ounce simple syrup and 1 ounce lemon juice. Cover and shake until shaker becomes frosty and most of the ice has melted. Strain ingredients into cocktail glass filled with ice. Garnish with lemon as desired.

Melting Pot Cocktail

Add 2 ounces rum, 2 ounces Chambord, 1 ounce lemon juice, and 1 ounce agave nectar to cocktail shaker filled with ice. Cover and shake until shaker becomes frosty and most of the ice has melted. Strain ingredients into Collins glass filled with ice. Garnish with lemon as desired.

The state of Mississippi says its claim to fame is that it is a melting pot of greatness. The Melting Pot cocktail combines great ingredients from around the globe, along with its population, for a glass of deliciousness that pairs well with so many of the eclectic dishes you will find and enjoy in Mississippi. Cheers to good food and great cocktails!

Mississippi Manhattan

Fill cocktail shaker with ice. Add 2 ounces sweet tea, 2 ounces bourbon, 2-3 dashes angostura bitters and 2-3 dashes orange bitters. Cover and shake until shaker becomes frosty and most of the ice has melted. Strain ingredients into cocktail glass filled with ice. Garnish with oranges as desired.

Anytime I can modify one of my favorite cocktails, the Manhattan, I jump at the chance. Nothing says The South like Sweet Tea. Adding Sweet Tea into an already tasty cocktail doubles the deliciousness. If you haven’t tried Sweet Tea before I highly recommend giving it a taste. You will never go back to regular tea, fair warning!

Mississippi Mud-tini

Add 2 ounces hazelnut liqueur, 2 ounces chocolate liqueur, 2 ounces whipped cream vodka, and 1 ounce heavy cream to cocktail shaker filled with ice. Cover and shake until shaker becomes frosty and most of the ice has melted. Strain ingredients into chilled martini glass coated with chocolate syrup. Garnish with chocolate nibs as desired.

This cocktail had me at chocolate and also most of my friends. It is the most popular request when I have friends over, and I just can’t say no to making them! What is your cocktail creation of choice when you have friends over?

Mississippi Punch

The Mississippi Punch cocktail is the “unofficial” state drink for Mississippi. Milk became the official state beverage in 1984. There is nothing wrong with milk, but I much prefer Mississippi’s unofficial drink! Cheers to Mississippi Punch and its tasty unofficial-ness!

Fill cocktail shaker with ice. Add 2 ounces cognac, 2 ounces bourbon, 1 ounce dark rum, 1 ounce lemon juice and 1 ounce simple syrup. Cover and shake until shaker becomes frosty and most of the ice has melted. Strain ingredients into cocktail glass filled with ice. Garnish with lemon juice as desired.
