Best Louisiana Themed Cocktails

Hello and welcome to my cocktail recipe blog post – Best Louisiana Themed Cocktails! Sit down, and hold on as we explore a Cajun Storm, a Cognac Sazerac, a La Louisiane and some Southern Hospitality. Cheers to discovering so many tasty cocktails. Let the good times roll!

Cajun Storm

A Cajun Storm, in a glass of course, is a sight to see and taste. There is so much Louisiana in each and every sip. This rum and passion fruit combination is bound to become a favorite of yours.

Fill cocktail shaker with ice. Add 2 ounces spiced rum, 2 ounces light rum, 2 ounces passion fruit syrup, 1 ounce lemon juice and 1/2 ounce grenadine. Cover and shake until shaker becomes frosty and most of the ice has melted. Garnish with lemon as desired.

Cognac Sazerac

I know this blog post is about Louisiana Themed Cocktails but, if you have read more than one of my posts you will notice another theme. That theme is bourbon. I wanted to change things up, expand my horizons, and decided to create this Sazerac with Cognac. Boy, oh boy, am I glad I did. The spice and caramel blend so well with the licorice. Cheers to trying new things!

Add 1/2 ounce absinthe to coat the inside of a cocktail glass. Add 2 ounces cognac, 1/2 ounce simple syrup and 3-4 dashes Peychaud’s bitters to cocktail glass. Stir well. Add ice. Stir not so well. Often served with lemon rind, I use dehydrated lemons, sometimes. Sometimes it is just the cocktail with no garnish. Do you garnish your cocktails?

La Louisiane Cocktail

The La Louisiane cocktail is named after King Louis XIV of France and the variations have been around almost as long as the Louisiana Purchase. This cocktail features Peychaud’s bitters originally created by Antoine AmedĂ©e Peychaud in New Orleans in the 1830s. Louisiana themed cocktails created with Louisiana created ingredients!

Add 2 ounces rye whiskey, 2 ounces sweet vermouth, 2 ounces absinthe and 3-4 dashes Peychaud’s bitters to cocktail shaker filled with ice.

Southern Hospitality

We probably have all heard of southern hospitality, but have you tasted a Southern Hospitality cocktail? This smooth and spicy cocktail features another Louisiana original, drum roll please, Southern Comfort. Cheers to the South and its Hospitality!

Fill cocktail shaker with ice. Add 2 ounces Southern Comfort, 1 ounce Aperol, 1 ounce lime juice and 1 ounce Cajun spice simple syrup. Cover and shake until shaker becomes frosty and most of the ice has melted. Garnish with lime as desired.
