Hello and welcome to Best Montana Themed Cocktails. Montana is known for its stunning natural beauty and rugged landscapes, making it the perfect setting for a themed cocktail (any setting is the perfect setting for a themed cocktail, but that’s just me). Whether you are a resident or just visiting, these cocktails inspired by Montana will transport you to the heart of Big Sky Country. Here are some of the best themed Montana cocktails to try:
Huckleberry Mule

Huckleberries are a popular fruit in Montana, and this Huckleberry Mule is a refreshing and unique twist on the classic Moscow Mule. To make this delicious cocktail, you will need:
- 2 ounces vodka
- 1 ounce huckleberry syrup
- 1 ounce lime juice
- Ginger beer
- Lime wedge as desired for garnish
In a copper mug filled with ice,(if you want it more official mule, I used a canning glass so you could see the color), add vodka, huckleberry syrup, and lime juice. Stir gently, then top with ginger beer. Garnish with a lime wedge as desired. The sweet and tangy flavor of huckleberries combined with the zing of ginger beer will make this cocktail a hit at any summer gathering. Or autumn gathering. Or winter gathering. Well, you get the picture. It’ll be your huckleberry 🤣
Glacier Old Fashioned

Glacier National Park is a treasure of Montana and is known for its stunning glaciers and pristine lakes. This Glacier Old Fashioned takes inspiration from this natural wonder. To make this cocktail, you will need:
- 2 ounces bourbon
- 1 ounce blue curaçao
- 2 dashes of orange bitters
- Orange for garnish as desired
In an old-fashioned glass, mix the blue curaçao and bitters. Fill the glass with ice. Add bourbon and stir. Garnish with an orange as desired. The smooth and rich flavor of bourbon combined with the sweetness of the blue curaçao and the bitters, I used orange bitters in the cocktail, no garnish needed, will transport you to the majestic glaciers of Montana.
Big Sky Lemonade

The endless skies of Montana inspired this refreshing and citrusy cocktail. To make this cocktail, you will need:
- 2 ounces vodka
- 3 ounces lemonade
- 1 ounce blue curacao
- Lemon wheel for garnish
In a shaker filled with ice, combine vodka, lemonade, and blue curacao. Shake well and strain into a glass filled with ice. Garnish with lemon as desired. The vibrant blue color of this cocktail will remind you of the endless blue skies of Montana, and the tangy lemonade and vodka combination will keep you refreshed on a hot summer day, or an autumn day, or, well here I go again.
Cowboy Coffee

Montana is cowboy country, and this cocktail pays homage to the rugged cowboys who have shaped the state’s history. To make this cocktail, you will need:
- 3 ounces whiskey
- 3 ounces coffee liqueur
- 3 ounces cold brew coffee
- Whipped cream and cinnamon for garnish
In a glass filled with ice, combine whiskey, coffee liqueur, and cold brew coffee. Stir gently. Top with whipped cream and sprinkle cinnamon on top. The smooth and smoky flavor of whiskey combined with the richness of coffee will give you a taste of the wild west. And yes, cowboys do like whipped cream!
Whiskey Ditch

The whiskey ditch cocktail is a classic yet often overlooked drink that offers a perfect balance of flavors. This cocktail is made with just two simple ingredients: whiskey and water.
- 3 ounces whiskey
- 1 ounce water
The origin of the Whiskey ditch Cocktail comes from pioneers that once upon a time filled their whiskey mash jars with melted snow ditch water. I prefer mine made from my bottled water at home. Whether you’re a whiskey aficionado or a cocktail enthusiast, the whiskey ditch is a timeless and elegant choice for any occasion.
The whiskey ditch cocktail is a unique and refreshing twist on a classic whiskey cocktail. Made with equal parts rye whiskey and grapefruit juice, this cocktail has a citrusy yet robust flavor. Some variations of the recipe call for a dash of bitters or simple syrup to balance out the flavors. While the origin of the name “whiskey ditch” is unclear, it is thought that it may have originated as a drink to be enjoyed by laborers working on the railroad. Today, the whiskey ditch cocktail remains a popular choice for those looking for a bold and enticing whiskey-based drink.
