Hello and welcome to a Cocktail Pairing Guide for My Top SciFi Movies. Last week I shared with you all My Top SciFi Fantasy Movies per Decade. This week I wanted to share my favorite themed cocktails that pair best with each movie. Some recipes are strong and some are sweet. All of them are amazing. Cheers to SciFi Fantasy Themed Cocktails.
Robby’s Bourbon – Forbidden Planet

Robby’s Bourbon is just that, bourbon. Robby the Robot is able to analyze and replicate any substance given to him. Cook’s Bourbon, the last of his Bourbon. Relatively simple alcohol molecules with traces of fusel oil. Robby was able to replicate 60 gallons. I wasn’t able to replicate as Robby did but found an amazing local Cask Strength Bourbon from Oola Distillery to enjoy. Please drink responsibly.
HAL Cocktail – 2001: A Space Odyssey

Fill cocktail shaker with ice. Add 1 ounce Amaretto, 1 ounce Southern Comfort, 1 ounce Coconut Rum, 1 ounce pineapple juice and 1/2 ounce grenadine.
Cover and shake cocktail shaker until it becomes frosty and most of the ice has melted. Strain shaker ingredients into Collins glass filled with ice. Please drink responsibly.
I decided to create an orange Tang looking cocktail to enjoy the movie with. Tang reminds me of astronauts and pairs well with the space sequences of the film. If the Dawn of Man sequence is more to your taste, I highly recommend the Moon watcher cocktail. The recipe can be found at www.punchdrink.com and search Moon Watcher.
Freeze Them Cocktail – Alien

Add 1/2 ounce peach liqueur and 1 ounce Midori to a shot glass. Top off with Bailey’s Irish Cream poured over a spoon.
If layering cocktails is not your thing: add all ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Cover and shake until shaker becomes frosty and most of the ice has melted. Strain ingredients into cocktail glass filled with ice. I would double the amount of each ingredient to serve and sip from the cocktail glass. Please drink responsibly.
When the layering is done correctly, the shot looks like the egg on the movie poster for Alien 1979. I do agree with Parker and would have voted to freeze Kane but then we would not have an amazing movie to watch.
Transporter Cocktail – The Fly

Fill cocktail shaker with ice. Add 1 ounce cherry brandy, 1 ounce bourbon and 2 dashes cherry bitters.
Cover and shake until shaker becomes frosty and most of the ice has melted. Strain ingredients into cocktail glass filled with ice. Please drink responsibly.
Cheers to a strong cocktail that pairs well with an amazing movie. Be afraid, be very afraid.
Choice Cocktail – The Matrix

Red Pill: Add 1 ounce Blood Sweat Tears vodka to shot glass. Top off with strawberry purée.
Blue Pill: Add 1 ounce Blood Sweat Tears vodka to shot glass. Top off with blue curaçao.
Please drink responsibly. Take the blue pill your story ends. You wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill, you stay in Wonderland. I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes. Which pill would you choose?
Browncoat Tea – Serenity

Fill cocktail shaker with ice. Add 1 ounce Firefly Sweet Tea, 1 ounce Sparkle Donkey Tequila, 1 ounce Captain Morgan Spiced Rum, 1 ounce Bombay Gin and 1 ounce Sweet & Sour Mix.
Cover and shake until shaker becomes frosty and most of the ice has melted. Strain ingredients into Collins glass filled with ice. Top off with Coca Cola. Please drink responsibly.
This drink packs quite a punch. If you are someone that aims to misbehave I highly recommend this cocktail for your next Serenity movie night.
Dream Weaver – Inception

Add 2 ounces Amaretto, 2 ounces 7 up and 2 ounce Blood Sweat Tears vodka to cocktail glass filled with ice.
Stir well. Add more 7 up to taste as needed. Please drink responsibly.
If you are looking to forget your dreams I highly recommend the Mind Eraser Cocktail. The recipe can be found at www.liquor.com then search Mind Eraser.
Optical Cocktail – Invisible Man

Fill cocktail glass with ice. Add 2 dashes orange bitters, 2 ounces Bombay gin, 1 ounce Cointreau and 1 ounce Courvoisier. Stir well.
Top off with ginger ale. Stir not so well. Please drink responsibly.
How do you feel about invisibility? I am not a fan. Like the movie’s tag line says: What you can’t see can hurt you!
