Valentine’s Themed Cocktails 2024

Reading Time: 4 minutes

Hello and welcome to Valentine’s Themed Cocktails 2024. My latest blog post shares cocktail recipes for a Tootsie Roll Cocktail (the chocolate bitters gives it a tootsie roll taste). A Cherry Manhattan (yes it is a classic Manhattan but the cherry bitters makes it a perfect Valentine’s day cocktail), don’t you think? A Cherry Sazerac (drum roll please, it’s another change to one of my old favorites). A Galentine’s Cocktail (sweet and strong and a great girl’s night get together cocktail). And what’s a Valentine’s Themed Cocktail blog without a Cosmopolitan? Well, it’s not a Valentine’s Themed Cocktail blog, it’s just a cocktail recipe blog! It’s Wednesday, and on Wednesdays we wear pink. Or should I say we drink pink. Cheers to Cosmopolitans!

Tootsie Roll Cocktail

Fill cocktail shaker with ice. Add 4 ounces bourbon, 2 ounces sherry and 3-4 dashes chocolate bitters. Cover and shake until shaker becomes frosty and most of the ice has melted. Strain ingredients into Collins glass filled with ice. Sip with mini chocolate chips as desired.

Did you know that all bourbons are whiskey but, not all whiskeys are bourbon. Interesting fact I thought I would share. Do you prefer whiskey? Or do you prefer bourbon?

Galentine Cocktail

It’s that time of year again and you don’t want to fight the crowds or pay way too much for dinner. Make it a girl’s night in and sip this delicious Galentine Cocktail. You can also make it a guys night in and enjoy this as a Malentine Cocktail. Save yourself some money and headaches trying to get into your favorite restaurant or paying twice the price for the exact same drink you had last week. Cheers to home bartenders!

Add 3 ounces vodka and 3 ounces coffee liqueur to cocktail shaker filled with ice. Cover and shake until shaker becomes frosty and most of the ice has melted. Strain ingredients into cocktail glass filled with ice.

Cosmopolitan Martini

Fill cocktail shaker with ice. Add 2 ounces citrus vodka, 2 ounces cranberry juice, 1 ounce triple sec and 1 ounce lemon juice. Cover and shake until shaker becomes frosty and most of the ice has melted. Strain ingredients into chilled a martini glass and garnish with limes as desired.

I love a Cosmopolitan Martini but, I think it also gets a bad rap. Is it the glass, the color, the attitude? I don’t know. What I do know is that I like it, but I’d rather not order it when at a bar or restaurant because of the looks I get. What do you think of the Cosmopolitan Martini?

Cherry Manhattan

It is said the Manhattan Cocktail, was created in the Manhattan Club, in the city of Manhattan in New York. Now that’s a lot of Manhattan. In the 1870’s patrons ordered a cocktail by the name of the club where they were drinking. Interesting era. My Manhattan has an interesting twist though. I wonder if those first tasters of the classic Manhattan would approve?

Add 4 ounces rye whiskey, 2 ounces sweet vermouth and 2-3 dashes cherry bitters. Cover and shake until shaker becomes frosty and most of the ice has melted. Strain ingredients into martini glass. Garnish with cherries as desired.

Cherry Sazerac

Fill cocktail shaker with ice. Add 2 ounces cherry liqueur, 2 ounces whiskey and 2 ounces cognac. Cover and shake until shaker becomes frosty and most of the ice has melted. Strain ingredients into cocktail glass filled with ice. Garnish with cherries as desired.

The Cherry Sazerac is a sweet twist of its original. This version is now something I prefer, at least until I run out of cherries. Did you know all cognacs are brandies but, not all brandies are cognacs. Cheers to cherries!

Valentine’s Themed Cocktails 2024

Thank you for joining me as we explored Valentine’s Themed Cocktails 2024. Together we discovered lots of cherries and lots of chocolate in old and new ways. The two I will create again and again are the Cherry Sazerac, yes it is still a Sazerac, but this version has moved to the top of my must drink list. A Sazerac with a cherry on top. And my new favorite chocolate cocktail is the Tootsie Roll cocktail. It starts off strong and then ends sweet. Let me see you Tootsie Roll. Did your favorite Valentine’s Themed Cocktail make my list? If not, please share in the comments. I love discovering new treasures.
