Best Maine Themed Cocktails

Hello and welcome to my latest blog post Best Maine Themed Cocktails. Read on to discover cocktail recipes for a Blueberry Sloe Gin Fizz, a Maine Collins, a Maine Sunset and a Remember the Maine cocktail. Yes, there are a couple cocktails with blueberries! It’s Maine, so of course there are blueberries. Delicious cocktails to be created and enjoyed. Cheers to Maine Themed Cocktails!

Blueberry Sloe Gin Fizz

The Blueberry Sloe Gin Fizz is the first blueberry cocktail recipe I am sharing, and it is my new favorite Maine Themed Cocktail. I was definitely in a blueberry mood while creating it.

Muddle 3, or 4, or 5 blueberries in cocktail shaker. Add ice and 3 ounces sloe gin. Cover and shake until shaker becomes frosty and most of the ice has melted. Strain ingredients into cocktail glass filled with ice. Add 3 ounces club soda and stir well. Garnish with more blueberries as desired.

Maine Collins

Blueberry Cocktail Recipe number 2. Adding cherries to the recipe raised the flavor profile to another level. I had a hard time leaving enough blueberries and cherries to finish making the cocktails and garnish.

Add muddled blueberries and cherries to cocktail shaker. Fill cocktail shaker with ice. Add 2 ounces cherry liqueur, 2 ounces gin and 1 ounce simple syrup. Cover and shake until shaker becomes frosty and most of the ice has melted. Strain ingredients into Collins glass filled with ice. Top off with club soda. Garnish with blueberries or cherries, or both as desired.

Maine Sunset

Layered drinks are always hard for me to make. The layers just don’t happen. Doesn’t mean I won’t try to layer though!

Fill Collins glass with ice. Add 2 ounces citrus vodka, 2 ounce triple sec and 2 ounces lemon lime soda. Stir well. Add 1 ounce grenadine and watch the sunset happen.

Remember the Maine

“Remember the Maine, to Hell with Spain”, became a rallying cry for action after the USS Maine naval ship was sunk in Havana Harbor during the Cuban revolt. Did Spain sink the USS Maine? History states it does not know who sunk our Battleship, but a version of the cocktail recipe is below.

Fill cocktail shaker with ice. Add 3 ounces rye whiskey, 2 ounces cherry liqueur and 1 ounce sweet vermouth. Cover and shake until shaker becomes frosty and most of the ice has melted. Coat chilled martini glass with 1/2 ounce absinthe. Some people choose to then discard the absinthe, I keep it and combine it with the other ingredients. Strain shaker ingredients into martini glass. Stir well. Garnish with cherries as desired.
