Dirty Derby Cocktail

I love the Dirty Derby Cocktail. I know, I know, the Kentucky Derby prides itself on traditions. There is pomp and circumstance around every corner but, I firmly believe you can get down and dirty while wearing your fancy hat!

To create your own Dirty Derby fill cocktail shaker with ice. Add 2 ounces bourbon, 2 ounces Jagermeister, 1 ounce lemon juice, 1 ounce cinnamon syrup and 2 dashes bitters. Cover and shake until shaker becomes frosty and most of the ice has melted. Strain into cocktail glass filled with ice. Garnish with lemons as desired.

Giddy Up Cocktail

I had stated in the intro paragraph that there were going to be cocktails with bourbon, cocktails with cherries and now we have a couple cocktails about horses.

The Giddy Up Cocktail is not one that makes me want to get up and go but it does make me want to sit, sip and enjoy watching the horses. Add 2 ounces rum, 2 ounces cherry brandy, 1 ounce sweet vermouth and 2 dashes cherry bitters to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Cover and shake until shaker becomes frosty and most of the ice has melted. Strain into cocktail glass filled with ice. Cheers to horse watching!

Jolly Jockey Cocktail

The Jolly Jockey Cocktail was created in tribute to the rider and horse that come in first place. I am sure there are bourbon cocktails out there that have roses in them but I am kind of stuck on cherries!

Fill Collins cocktail glass with ice. Add 2 ounce bourbon, 2 ounces sweet vermouth and 2 ounces cherry liqueur. See cherries! Stir well. Garnish with cherries as desired. I always say yes to cherries! What is your favorite garnish? Share in the comments.

Kentucky Sweet & Sour

The Kentucky Sweet & Sour may be my favorite Kentucky themed cocktail, don’t tell the bourbon! The lemon flavor pairs will with the cherry flavor. It is definitely a tasty treat.

Fill cocktail shaker with ice. Add 2 ounces rye whiskey, 2 ounces cherry liqueur and 1 ounce lemon juice. Cover and shake until shaker becomes frosty and most of the ice has melted. Strain ingredients into cocktail glass filled with ice. Garnish with cherries. Cheers to sweet and sour!

Kentucky Tea

This Kentucky Tea could really get me into trouble. It tastes like, well, tea! A hot day to just sit and enjoy the summer plus a Kentucky Tea or two! They are strong and can sneak up on you.

Add 2 ounces bourbon, 2 ounce triple sec, 1 ounce lemon juice and 1 ounce simple syrup to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Cover and shake until shaker becomes frosty and most of the ice has melted. Strain into cocktail glass filled with ice. Garnish with lemon as desired. I using cherries would be a no go for this cocktail. Cheers to Kentucky Tea!
