Whaling Ships and Water Falls and Lighthouses – Connecticut.

Mystic Seaport Museum is the largest Maritime museum in the United States. The Seaport is home to a recreated 19th century village. The village houses over 60 historic buildings. The Seaport also houses the only surviving wooden whaler ship, the Charles W. Morgan. For hours, tickets and more visit www.mysticseaport.org.

Experience covered bridges, scenic hikes and cascading waterfalls. You all know how much I LOVE bridges! Kent Falls State Park was established in 1919. The Park covers over 300 acres and is an amazing adventure. To learn more visit their website at www.portal.ct.gov Kent Falls State Park.

Sheffield Island Lighthouse first opened in 1868. The Lighthouse is open seasonally for tours. So much history to learn and sights to be seen. A day by the water is always a great day! Reserve your guided tour at www.seaport.org.

Universities and Castles and Steam Trains – Connecticut

Yale University is a private Ivy League university in New Haven. Known for programs in economics, English and many more. Yale is one of the oldest schools of higher education. Gillette Castle State Park is located in Lyme, Connecticut. The castle was first a private residence. Designed and occupied by William Gillette, a former stage performer. The state of Connecticut purchased the estate in 1943. The Park offers hiking trails, museum, picnic areas and more. Essex Steam Train travels throughout the beautiful New England countryside. Train tours lead vintage coaches through history and breathtaking scenery. Their website states All Tracks Lead to New Adventures. Start planning yours at www.essexsteamtrain.com.

Circus and Pizza and Traitors – Connecticut

Barnum Museum is located in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The museum states they are the leading authority all things Barnum. The museum contains over 60,00 artifacts relating to Barnum’s life and work. Have you ever wanted to join the circus? Hours and directions are at www.Barnum-museum.org.

Mystic Pizza is located in, you guessed it, Mystic Connecticut. The website states Mystic Pizza is a nostalgic pizza spot. This amazing pizza spot inspired the 1988 movie. This local favorite serves up great tasting pies and memorabilia. Menu selections and hours are at www.mysticpizzaoriginal.com

New London, Connecticut holds a bit of a grudge against its once hometown resident Benedict Arnold. The Burning of Benedict Arnold is an annual festival. The town, you guessed it, burns a two faced effigy of their hometown hero turned traitor.
