The A, B, C’s of California

California, show me your Amazing Drinks, Best Brunch locations and Conventions that are not to be missed.

Los Angeles, California Skyline

A is for amazing drinks, and California beverages speak to me. The state of California has not passed any legislation naming an official state drink, but the unofficial state drink of California is wine. So it can be Wine O’Clock any day, any time in California, yes please!

Doffo Winery is located in Southern California and has been named Temecula’s Winery of the year and has several 90+ point wines to prove it. My go to from Doffo Winery is their 2017 Malbec. It has a lovely strawberry and vanilla combination for the nose and vanilla, coffee, tobacco combination for the tongue. With the first sip I tasted I knew why it was a Double Gold Winner and Rated 95 Points at the Sunset International Wine Competition. If you stop by Doffo Winery, tell Shannon WonderLesch sent you!

Dracaena Winery is located on the Central Coast of California and has 90+ points wine to choose from as well. My go to from Dracaena Winery is their 2017 Classic Cabernet Franc. Aromas of blackberry, spice and oak for the nose and tastes of berries, leather and spice for the tongue. 2020 Bronze Award winner at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition and Rated 92 Points by the Wine Enthusiast equals a great tasting wine! If you stop by Dracaena Winery, tell Lori WonderLesch sent you!

B for Best Brunch locations. California’s most popular drink, per Mercury News’ poll result, is the Mimosa. These Best Brunch locations have Best food and the Best Mimosas. Cheers to that! 🥂

Eat This Cafe, located on Santa Monica Blvd in Hollywood, California offers bottomless mimosas with their Brunch Friday through Sunday. Their slogan is, the Weekend Starts Friday, and I totally agree with that slogan. For brunch I had to try their Crab Cakes Eggs Benedict and of course their bottomless mimosas. Poached eggs topped with spicy Hollandaise sauce on a bed of Arugula and Sriracha sauce. I was a bit hesitant since I am a wimp when it comes to spicy foods but, the combinations of egg, crab and arugula balanced out the spices for a flavorful meal. I also knew that if things got a bit too hot I could always refill my bottomless mimosa glass 😆 I highly recommend this amazing brunch combo.

Met Him at a Bar, located on South La Brea in Los Angeles, California offers brunch Saturdays and Sundays. Trying to not order their Salmon Benedict and offer a variety of brunch options within my blog posts, I decided to order the Italian Breakfast and it did not disappoint. Scrambled eggs, Parmesan, chives, pesto sourdough and Roma tomatoes make for an amazing mid day meal during a weekend. The mimosas are not bottomless but delicious and add that needed something to make it an official Brunch meal. Their dinner menu served seven days a week, looks delicious and to note that all of the pasta served is made in house!
