Welcome to my next Wonder Lesch blog post. This week we will be visiting Southern California. Come with me on a virtual tour of my San Diego high, middle and low favorites! Taking notes is highly recommended so you know where to go when we can go!

We will be starting on a high note with the Altitude Sky Lounge located in the heart of downtown San Diego. Rising 22 stories above San Diego’s historic Gaslamp Quarter, Altitude Sky Lounge is a rooftop bar with an amazing Happy Hour and an equally amazing view. Sunset Happy Hour Specials include $7 Premium Well Cocktails, $5 Domestic Draft Beers and 1/2 off Artisan Flatbread Monday through Friday 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm. Looking for more than a Sunset, the Altitude Sky Lounge can offer an elegantly catered experience or an intimate cocktail party. The Altitude Sky Lounge is a top things to do in San Diego breathtaking nightlife destination complete with custom menus, bottle service and panoramic views of Coronado Island, Coronado Bridge, Point Loma and San Diego Harbor. Bring your camera and share your photos, I’m a little home sick at the moment.

What do Wonder Bread and one of the top craft breweries in San Diego have in common? Mission Brewery is located in the old Wonder Bread Factory at 1441 L Street, otherwise known as the East Village, and is the only location where all Mission Brewery beer is brewed, bottled, canned and kegged. Mission Brewery was originally established in 1913, but the brewery went out of business during prohibition. Lucky for us it was reestablished in 2007 and has over 50 National and International awards proving their beer is here to stay. With so many awards for so many beers it was hard for me to choose just one beer, so I didn’t. They offer tasing flights and Mission Brewery Dark Seas was my favorite, but the Blueberry Blonde was a contender for first place which was a bit surprising considering I am a dark beer fan. Interested in a tour and a tasting? Mission Brewery offers tours and tastings Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm. The tour includes 5 tasters with an amazing grain to glass experience. Tours fill up quickly so I recommend booking yours early. Let me know which beer was your favorite, or if you loved them all!

How low would you go to get find an amazing Spirit and Wine Parlor? Vin de Syrah is a true treasure found at the bottom of a rabbit hole, Alice in Wonderland style. Finding the entrance might be a bit hard but that can only make you curiouser and curiouser. We are all mad here for craft beer, boutique spirits and esoteric wines. Vin de Syrah boosts over 100 different bottles of wine from all over the world. Not sure which wine to choose Flights are served Tuesday – Sunday 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm and include three tastings of featured wines by the glass. Happy Hour is Tuesday – Friday 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm and Sunday 5:00 pm – midnight excluding holiday weekends offering $7 Well Cocktails, $7 Draft Beers, $7 Featured Wines and $7 House Made Sangria – Red, White or Rose. Food is served until 10:00 pm and includes varieties of Cheese Boards, Sandwiches, Desserts and many other small bites from their menu. Wine tastings with in-house sommeliers happen Fridays and Saturdays from 8:00 pm – 9:00 pm. Reservations for Private Romance tastings with 2-4 people or Private Wine Tastings with up to 16 people fill up fast so don’t be late to the Mad Hatter Tea Party.
